Is this paper magic?

Using play as an approach to interacting with paper gave the children flexibility and freedom to engage and explore the properties of the material in different ways, from sounds (the "crunch" of a crumpled sheet or the soft whisper of air when it floats down) to its many textures (something smooth and crisp evolving into something soft like a blanket).

After a few weeks of exploring the paper together, each child had a chance to imagine and plan their own creation. They discussed what colors) they would need, and the following week our playful approach continued as they used liquid watercolors in spray bottles and eyedroppers to bring their ideas to life:
"I want to make it into a motorcycle. I will need black."
"I want to make a skeleton."
"A princess!"
Others chimed in to further the ideas:
"A dress, a crown. Shoes!"
"A motorcycle has wheels, helmet, gloves..."
"Is this paper magic?"
